Open Git Bash with default path



Problem: Every-time I launch git bash I need to traverse to the work-space directory that I am working on.

Solution:

 There are different ways you could do this:

the easiest is to Right click on the Windows shortcut that you use to launch git bash, and click Properties. Change the value of "Start In" to your desired workspace path

 Or use ConEmu where you have a task for starting Git Bash like

Note the button "Startup dir..." in the bottom. It adds a -new_console:d: to the startup command of the Git Bash. Make it point to wherever you like

Or Add the line to the .bashrc file in the home directory (create the file if it doesn't exist):

cd ~
touch .bashrc
echo "cd ~/Desktop/repos/" >> .bashrc

Trim / Remove spaces in Xpath?

If you are wondering how you can trim the spaces in your xpath, this is how: The normalize-space function strips leading and trailing white-space from a string, replaces sequences of white-space characters by a single space, and returns the resulting string. Example : Which one is better? //td[starts-with(normalize-space(),'Text to Trim')] //td[starts-with(normalize-space(text()),' Text to Trim ')] The second option is better as it targets at the specific nodes More string functions in XPATH: Functions Description starts-with( string1 ,  string2 ) Returns true if the first string starts with the second string. contains( string1 ,  string2 ) Returns true if the first string contains the second string. substring( string offset length ) Returns a section of the string.
